Know the course - Familiarize yourself with the units and what topics are covered in an AP course. This can help you find connections between each unit that can show how one concept or event influences another.
Take notes - Use a style of note taking that works for you. Don’t be afraid to use a lot of paper when working through problems, drawing diagrams for concepts, or following relationships in history.
Pace yourself - A lot of AP courses offered on NCVPS are yearlong. Make sure not to procrastinate and keep up with assignments so that the last few weeks before exams can be spent reviewing and taking care of your wellbeing. However, you also don’t want to go too fast with online courses. Allow yourself time to reflect on the material from the notes before taking a quiz.
Be thorough - Take the time to think about the information provided in lessons and make sure you have the best understanding. If something might seem a little unclear or uncomfortable, take advantage of the various resources to venture more in depth and gain a better understanding. Remember to ask your teacher, instructor, or a peer tutor!

Exam Preparation

Know the exam format - Before entering the exam room, make sure you know how much time is allotted for each section, how many questions are on each section, and what style questions they are. Try practice tests to get a feel for the timing and keeping track of your progress during the exam.
Review past FRQ responses - Understand the grading by looking at FRQs from past exams. Not only will this familiarize you with the style of AP questions and what you might see, but it will also help you notice what College Board is looking for in a response.
Practice! - Practice MCQs and FRQs in AP Classroom throughout the year as you progress through the course in order to keep earlier modules fresh in your mind. As you go through practice problems, look over explanations and the grading rubrics- these will often give more information on what is expected on exams and habits you should exercise.
Create a study guide - Tailor the guide to your needs! A study guide can be one page full of common mistakes or reminders or more if needed.
